Why run YouTube from a conversationChatGPT writes, Breakreach publishes.

Uploading a video is the easy part, filling the title, the description and the tags well is what people skip. Doing it in a conversation means the description gets written from the actual content rather than from a template.

Nothing runs on your machine. Once a post is scheduled, it publishes from our servers, so ChatGPT can be closed and your laptop can be off.

What you can post to YouTubeAnd how to ask for each.

  • VideoOne video file per post. The title is the one you give, or else the first line of your text, up to 100 characters. The text becomes the description, up to 5,000 characters.Upload this video with the title Morning Light, brewed three ways
  • ShortA vertical video under three minutes is usually filed as a Short. YouTube decides, from the file itself.Upload this vertical clip Friday at noon
  • VisibilityPublic by default. Ask for unlisted or private when you want to check it first.Upload it as unlisted

Let ChatGPT write the YouTube postThen say what to change.

Title and description are what YouTube search reads. Give the assistant what the video covers, or paste the script, and ask for a short title and a description whose first lines say what the viewer gets, since only those show in search.

Schedule my YouTube Short for Friday at noon

Schedule it instead of posting nowOr let it take the next free slot.

Name a time and the post is scheduled in your workspace's time zone. Or skip the time: use my next free slot puts it in the first open slot of your posting schedule, which is weekdays at 11 AM and 4 PM until you change it in Breakreach. Scheduled YouTube posts go out from Breakreach's servers, so the conversation, the app and your laptop can all be closed.

How it did

Views, likes and comments for each video come back, with subscribers, total views and video count for the channel. Watch time and retention are not available through the connector. You can read comments, and replying depends on a Google permission still in review.

Edit or delete it

Until it goes out, you can change anything from the conversation: move it to Friday, change the caption, turn it back into a draft. A failed post can be fixed and rescheduled the same way. Once it's published, the connector can't edit or delete it on YouTube, and deleting it in Breakreach only takes it off the calendar, so edit or remove a published post in YouTube Studio.

What YouTube requiresAnd the limits to know.

  • Requires a YouTube channel.
  • YouTube posts require a video file (published as a video or Short).
SpecYouTube
TitleUp to 100 characters.
DescriptionUp to 5,000 characters, and the first 150 show in search.
MediaA video file is required. Vertical clips under three minutes publish as Shorts. A photo next to the video becomes its thumbnail.
VisibilityPublic, unlisted or private, set in the prompt.

What it can't do yet

  • Tags and playlists.
  • Changing a video after it's published.
  • Made for kids: every upload is marked as not made for kids.

Three things people do with it

  • Upload a finished render with a title and description written from its transcript
  • Publish the same vertical clip to YouTube Shorts, Reels and TikTok in one sentence
  • Ask which recent videos got the most views and comments

A safe routine for a teamDrafts first, then the calendar.

  • Ask for drafts, not postsSay save it as a draft and nothing is scheduled. Drafts land in the Breakreach calendar, where the team can read them, and schedule the draft for Thursday at 9 AM turns one into a post.
  • Review in the calendarEvery YouTube post, from ChatGPT, the API or the app, sits on the same calendar with its time, account and media. Open one to edit it or move it.
  • Name the brandWith several workspaces, the connector uses your first one unless you name another, so say which brand the post is for.
  • Approve each postSet ChatGPT to ask before it acts (details below), so nothing is published without someone clicking allow.
  • Know when something failsA post that hits a temporary error is retried up to three times over 30 minutes. If it still fails, it's marked failed in the calendar with a notification, and you can fix and reschedule it from the chat.
  • Revoke access anytimeDisconnect the connector in ChatGPT and the assistant can't post any more. Posts already scheduled stay in the calendar until you cancel them.

Using the connector in ChatGPTPlans, confirmations, phones.

  • Which plans have itPlugins from the ChatGPT directory are available across ChatGPT plans, and OpenAI notes that access depends on your plan, workspace, role and region. On Business workspaces apps are on by default and admins can turn them off. On Enterprise and Edu, new plugins stay off until an admin enables them.
  • Confirmations before postingChatGPT can show an approval card naming Breakreach and the action before it runs, with options such as Deny, Allow once or Always allow. You choose the default in Settings → Plugins → Permissions: always ask, allow reads only, allow low-risk actions (the default), or allow all actions for one app. To approve every post yourself, pick Always ask.
  • Web, desktop and phonePlugins work on the web and in the ChatGPT desktop app, and OpenAI's release notes also cover them on mobile and in voice.
  • DisconnectingIn Settings → Plugins, select Breakreach, open the menu on the account and choose Disconnect. Posts already scheduled in Breakreach still go out, so cancel them in the calendar if you need to.

Other ways to post to YouTube from ChatGPTAnd when they're the better choice.

  • YouTube StudioThe Schedule card on the upload page sets the date, time and time zone. Better when you need a playlist, tags or the made-for-kids setting. YouTube Help
  • Zapier or MakeBoth can upload a video when a trigger fires, for example a new file in a folder. Zapier, Make
  • Copy and pasteAsk the assistant for the text, then post it yourself in the app. Free and fine for a post or two, but nothing is scheduled and the assistant can't see how it did.

When it doesn't workThe fixes for what people run into.

  • My upload failed halfwayYouTube rejects files above its per-account size limit and unverified channels above 15 minutes. Verify the channel in YouTube Studio and retry.
  • Can I reply to YouTube comments? We built it and it is pending Google's review of the permission. It turns on for everyone the day they approve it, with no action from you beyond reconnecting the channel.
  • Does it set the thumbnail?Yes: add a photo next to the video and it becomes the thumbnail once the video is up (JPG or PNG, 1280×720 works best). YouTube only takes custom thumbnails from verified channels: if yours isn't, the video still goes out with a frame YouTube picks, and Breakreach shows how to verify it at youtube.com/verify, then sets the thumbnail again in one click.
