Social Media Tools That Work With Claude and ChatGPT (2026)

Breakreach is listed in both assistants' directories, so setup is a search and an OAuth screen: Customize → Connectors → Discover in Claude, Settings → Plugins in ChatGPT. Behind the connector sits a remote MCP server with 23 tools, and a request like "check what's scheduled this week, fill the empty days, and put the TikTok ones in the evening" maps onto real calls: list_posts and get_next_slot to read the schedule, then create_post with per-network settings to fill it. The same server (api.breakreach.com/mcp) works in Claude Code, Cursor or any MCP client, with OAuth or an API key.

The per-network detail is where it earns its place. TikTok posts carry a privacy level (private unless you set one), Reddit posts go to a subreddit or your profile with a flair by name, Pinterest pins go to a named board, and Instagram publishing works on Creator and Business accounts. On engagement, the assistant can read and reply to comments on Instagram, Facebook, Threads and X (YouTube replies are pending Google's approval), hide comments on Instagram, Facebook and Threads, and read and send DMs on Instagram, Facebook Messenger and X. A failed post can be edited with update_post and sent again.

The limits, stated the same way as everyone else's: no LinkedIn Company Pages, no X threads, no approval workflows, and no per-post metrics for TikTok, LinkedIn or Pinterest. The writing comes from your assistant. For people who don't bring Claude or ChatGPT, the Breakreach app has its own built-in assistant, and AI Inspirations (daily post ideas from live web research, on Pro and Agency) adds ideas on top.

Metricool announced official connectors for Claude and ChatGPT in September 2026, and both are one search away: the connector sits in Claude's directory and under Plugins in ChatGPT. Its Claude listing shows seven tools, and most of them are about data: available metrics, analytics by metric, best time to post by network and brand settings, plus creating, listing and updating scheduled posts. A question like "compare my Instagram engagement this month with last month and tell me which format drove the difference" gets answered from your real numbers.

As a publishing integration it is serviceable: the assistant can create, schedule and edit posts. Metricool's own FAQ lists what the MCP doesn't do: inbox messages, comment moderation, ads campaign management, autolists and Smartlinks. That makes a pairing sensible: Metricool for analytics questions, a publishing-focused connector next to it, and an assistant can call both in one conversation.

post bridge is the other small tool that made it into both directories. Its MCP page links a Claude directory listing and a ChatGPT plugin, and its September 11, 2026 press release dates the ChatGPT listing. The server exposes 16 tools: schedule posts with per-platform overrides, check whether each platform post succeeded or failed with error details, read views, likes, comments and shares, upload media up to 500MB, and edit or delete scheduled posts.

It's built for one person doing the marketing, and the pricing reflects it: $39/month for 15 accounts with unlimited posts, $99/month for 99 accounts with team invites. What its MCP page doesn't list is engagement: no comment replies and no DMs, and its analytics are still labeled beta.

Postiz offers two ways in. The directory connector (Claude, per Postiz, and ChatGPT's Plugins directory) covers posting, scheduling and analytics with an OAuth sign-in. The custom link (mcp.postiz.com/mcp-oauth-dynamic) adds AI image and video generation and clipping long videos into shorts; Postiz says Anthropic's directory terms keep media-generation tools out of the directory version.

The self-hosted route is what sets it apart: the code is AGPL-3.0, and a self-hosted instance exposes its own MCP endpoints, so the assistant schedules against infrastructure you control. Budget for the credential work, though. Postiz's docs say each network usually means registering your own developer app and pasting its keys, and Meta requires a verified business and a Live app before others can see your posts. The cloud plans, from $23/month billed yearly, take that work off your hands.

Buffer used to sit on this page as the Zapier example. That changed on May 27, 2026, when Buffer opened its public API with an MCP server at mcp.buffer.com/mcp. In Claude, Buffer's guide has you search for it under Customize → Connectors and sign in with OAuth. In ChatGPT it isn't in the Plugins directory as of September 29, 2026: Buffer's own ChatGPT guide adds it as a custom app in developer mode, which puts OpenAI's plan limits on custom apps in play.

The toolset is thorough on the publishing side. The assistant can list channels and their posting schedules, browse the queue and drafts, create, edit and delete posts (including threads on X, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon), save ideas and templates, and pull post metrics that refresh once a day. What it leaves out is engagement: there are no comment or DM tools. For existing Buffer users this is the cheapest way to add an assistant to a workflow they already trust.

Hootsuite no longer fits the "Zapier only" description. It runs four remote MCP servers at mcp.hootsuite.com, one per product: Perch to plan, draft, schedule and review performance, Nest to triage conversations and reply with saved responses, Lumen for mentions and sentiment, and Parliament for employee advocacy. Hootsuite lists MCP connectors as part of Wisdom, the AI layer it says runs on every plan.

The catch for individuals is setup and price. None of the four servers showed up in Claude's public connector catalog or in ChatGPT's Plugins directory when we checked on September 29, 2026, so you paste each URL as a custom connector. That's easy in Claude, but in ChatGPT it means developer mode and a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace for write actions. At $99 per user per month billed yearly, it makes sense when approvals and listening are requirements; for posting from a chat alone, the tools above cost less.

Zernio is built for people asking what their product's agents should publish through. Its hosted MCP server at mcp.zernio.com/mcp sits on top of a unified API covering 16 social platforms and 7 ad networks, with posts, analytics, inbox, comments, DMs and ads under one auth model. The docs say about 20 core tools cover the common flows, and the rest of the API is reachable on demand.

For an individual, the costs are setup and billing. Zernio isn't in either directory, so you add it by URL, which in ChatGPT means developer mode and OpenAI's plan limits on custom apps. Pricing is per connected account, with the first 2 free and usage fees for things like X API calls and messaging beyond 10,000 a month. There is a dashboard with a visual calendar, but the product is clearly built for developers first.
