The Facebook API in 2026.Pages only. Profiles and Groups are closed.
Posting to Facebook goes through the Pages API, part of the Graph API. It has no fee and posts to Pages, never to personal profiles or Groups. You need pages_manage_posts, a Page access token and, to serve Pages you don't manage, App Review. A photo is one call; several photos are one upload each, then a feed post that attaches them.

To post to Facebook from your product, use Breakreach's API.We built it, so here's the case.
See the request- No App Review, Business Verification or Page tokens to manage: Pages connect through Breakreach's Meta app, approved by Meta
- Up to 10 photos or a video in one request: the unpublished uploads and attached_media are handled
- Comments and Messenger replies through the same API, and the same request posts to Instagram, Threads and the rest
When to use Facebook's API directly. Breakreach posts feed posts only: no Reels, no Stories, no first comment, and no photos and video in the same post. Meta's API does Reels, Stories and comments, so build on it if you need them.
How to get access to the Facebook APIFrom a developer account to your first real post.
- 1Create an app with the Pages use case"Manage everything on your Page". business_management, pages_show_list and public_profile come by default; add pages_manage_posts and pages_read_engagement.
- 2Set up Facebook Login for BusinessThe redirect URI, the deauthorize and data deletion URLs, and a configuration for user or system-user tokens.
- 3Get a Page access tokenExchange the user's token for a long-lived one (about 60 days), then call GET /{user-id}/accounts: the Page tokens it returns don't expire.
- 4Test with people who have a role on the appIn Development mode the app can ask them for any permission. Every Page permission needs App Review before the app goes live for anyone else.
- 5Pass App Review, and Business VerificationA screen recording per permission, 1080p or better, and a successful call with each one in the last 30 days. Advanced Access also needs Business Verification.
Meta says a submission usually gets a decision within a week, often in 2 to 3 days. You can try the calls without code in the Graph API Explorer: pick the Page token from /me/accounts and POST to /{page-id}/feed.
How to post with the Facebook APIThe requests in the demo above, one by one.
- 1Upload each photo, unpublishedPOST /{page-id}/photos with url and published=false returns a photo id. Unpublished photos wait about 24 hours.
- 2Create the postPOST /{page-id}/feed with message and attached_media[i]={"media_fbid": id}, form-encoded. The answer is the post id, {page-id}_{post-id}.
A text or link post is one call to /feed. A single photo is one call to /photos with a caption, since the photos endpoint marks message as deprecated. A video goes to /videos with file_url, Reels to /video_reels in three phases, Stories to /photo_stories and /video_stories. To schedule, add published=false and scheduled_publish_time.
Common Facebook API errorsWhat they mean and how to fix them.

Is the Facebook API free?
There's no fee and no price list in the Pages API docs. Meta's Platform Terms only say it doesn't guarantee the platform will always be free.
What costs is the review and the tokens. And only Pages: no app can post to a personal profile since Meta deprecated publish_actions in 2018, or to a Group since it removed the Groups API on April 22, 2024.
Through Breakreach, a Facebook Page counts like any other connected account: the first 2 are free, then $5 a month each up to 20.

There's no fee for the Pages API, and no price list. Meta's Platform Terms only say it doesn't guarantee the platform will always be free. The cost is App Review and token upkeep.
No. Meta deprecated publish_actions in 2018, and the user feed endpoint doesn't accept new posts. Apps post to Pages.
No. Meta removed the Groups API and publish_to_groups for every version on April 22, 2024.

Upload each photo to /{page-id}/photos with published=false, then create one post on /{page-id}/feed with attached_media[0], attached_media[1] and so on, each holding a media_fbid.
Yes: published=false and scheduled_publish_time, a Unix time between 10 minutes and 30 days ahead per the Posts guide.
The first 2 connected accounts are free; from the third it's $5 a month per account up to 20, $3 up to 100, then $2. You pay per connected account, never per post or per request.
