Why the studies disagreeThey don't measure the same thing.
The five studies seem to answer one question, but each one measures something different. Sprout Social counts engagements, so a slot wins when its posts collect the most reactions in total. Buffer uses the median engagement rate, which compares each post to the size of its audience. Metricool ranks slots by views. A slot can come first on one measure and last on another.
The data differs too. Sprout Social and Hootsuite pool posts from every network, while Buffer, SocialPilot and Metricool use TikTok posts only.

Our reading: treat any one study's best time as a hypothesis. The hours they share, mid-afternoon and around 8 PM, are the safest place to start, and only your own numbers can settle the day.

- Pick three slots from different campsFor example Tuesday 3 PM, Thursday 8 PM and Sunday 9 AM: an afternoon, an evening and a weekend morning.
- Post comparable videos in each for two weeksSame format and a similar length, so the slot is the only big difference.

Sprout Social and Hootsuite report every time in the audience's local time. Buffer and SocialPilot say their times work in any time zone, and Metricool doesn't say. So read 3 PM as 3 PM where most of your viewers are.
