YouTube title rules
A YouTube title can be up to 100 characters (YouTube Help). YouTube's own advice is to keep it shorter than that: viewers may only see part of a title, so put the most important words near the beginning, limit ALL CAPS and emoji, and move episode numbers and branding to the end (title tips). The generator follows all of it and keeps titles under 70 characters.
What makes a good YouTube title
- It says what the video isAccurate beats clever. A title that promises what the video doesn't deliver loses viewers in the first seconds.
- The search words come first"Pour-over coffee at home" before "the simple way". The start is what shows everywhere.
- It works with the thumbnailThe thumbnail shows, the title tells. Don't repeat the thumbnail text word for word.
- It's for one viewerBeginners, pros, people without the gear: a title that names who it's for gets the right clicks.

Schedule a YouTube videoTitles for Shorts and long videos
Long videos are found through search and suggestions, so their titles need the words people type. Shorts are mostly watched in the feed, where the title shows over the video: shorter and punchier works there, often one line that makes the loop worth watching again.
Test up to three titles
Can't choose? YouTube's A/B test lets channels with advanced features test up to 3 titles and thumbnails on a video, from YouTube Studio on a computer, and keeps the one with the most watch time. It isn't available for Shorts (YouTube Help). Pick three different angles from the generator and let viewers decide.
Then write the description with the YouTube description generator and check your thumbnail in the YouTube thumbnail size guide.
