Ghost MCP servers in 2026.Which ones publish, and which ones email.
Ghost's own MCP option is ghst, a command-line tool in developer beta that runs an MCP server on your machine with your staff access token and covers most of Ghost Admin. Open-source servers such as MFYDev/ghost-mcp use a custom integration's Admin API key, and Zapier's MCP server can create posts. Breakreach's hosted connector publishes, schedules and emails posts from Claude or ChatGPT, alongside your social posts.

How we roast Morning Light
Oct 8 · 1 min read

Eleven minutes from green bean to bag. We start low to dry the beans, push through first crack, then stop early to keep the honey and orange notes.
That early stop is why it tastes lighter than our other coffees, and why it works as well in a latte as in a pour-over.

To post to Ghost from an assistant, use Breakreach. We built it, so here's the case.
Connect Ghost- The post goes out on the site and to your members' inboxes at the time you set, with the chat closed
- Nothing to run on your machine: paste the site's Admin API key once, then ask from Claude or ChatGPT, on the web or your phone
- The same request shares the post on LinkedIn, X and your other networks
When to pick something else. Breakreach publishes posts only, without pages, members, comments or stats beyond the member count, and can't edit a post once it's out. To run the whole site from an assistant, Ghost's own ghst does far more, on your machine.
The kinds of Ghost MCP serverHow each one gets to your account.
Ghost's own CLI, with an MCP mode
Ghost's team publishes ghst on GitHub and npm, in developer beta since February 2026. Its mcp command turns it into an MCP server with 91 tools, over stdio or HTTP, and you choose which groups to expose. It signs in with your staff access token, so it acts with your role, and an Administrator's token reaches what integration keys can't, like web stats. Its README says it's pre-1.0 and asks you to back up first.
Open source, with an Admin API key
MFYDev/ghost-mcp, the most-starred (235 stars in October 2026), and jgardner04/Ghost-MCP-Server run on your machine with a custom integration's key. They create and edit posts, members, tags and newsletters. Their post tools have no newsletter option, so a post they publish goes on the site without being emailed.
Automation platforms
Zapier's MCP server includes its Ghost actions: create a post, create or update a member. Each call uses two tasks of your Zapier plan. AnythingMCP hosts a 12-tool Ghost connector on the same Admin API key. On Ghost(Pro), Zapier and custom integrations need the Publisher plan or above.
Hosted publishing
Breakreach holds the key and publishes at the time you set, emailing the post with your newsletter when you ask. The social schedulers we checked, Postiz, Zernio, Upload-Post and Ayrshare, don't post to Ghost.
What Ghost's API lets a server doThe rules every server works within.
- Admin API keysA custom integration gets an Admin API key, written id:secret, and each request carries a JWT signed with it that lasts 5 minutes at most. Ghost(Pro) Starter has no custom integrations; Publisher, $29 a month billed yearly, and up do.
- PostingPOST /posts/?source=html converts HTML into Ghost's editor format; without ?source=html, the html is dropped and the post is empty. Posts made with an integration key are credited to the site's Owner.
- NewslettersA post is emailed when it moves to published with ?newsletter={slug}, and email_segment picks all, free or paid members. The POST that creates a post can't send email, and a published post can't be emailed again without going back to draft.
- StatsAn integration key reads members and per-post email counts, but not web analytics: /stats/ answers 403 to integrations. Staff access tokens, which ghst uses, can read them.
What Breakreach's Ghost tools doAnd what they don't, yet.
What you can ask for
- Blog postsThe first line is the title; paragraphs, ## headings, lists, **bold**, links and code blocks become Ghost editor cards you can still edit.
- Feature image, photos and videoThe first photo is uploaded to your site as the feature image; up to 9 more photos follow as image cards, and a video as a video card.
- NewsletterYour default newsletter or the one you name, to all, free or paid members, sent as the post publishes. If Ghost won't send the email, the post still goes out on the site and Breakreach tells you why.
- Scheduling and draftsAt a time you give or the next free slot of your posting schedule, published from Breakreach's servers; or a draft left in Ghost Admin to finish.
Not yet, or not possible
- Pages, and members-only or paid posts
- Editing or deleting a post once it's out
- Views and email opens: the member count only
- Ghost(Pro) Starter, which has no Admin API

Short answers about Ghost MCP servers.
Ghost's team publishes ghst, a command-line tool in developer beta with an MCP mode: it runs on your machine with your staff access token and covers most of Ghost Admin. Ghost's documentation doesn't describe a hosted server. Every other Ghost MCP server is third-party.
Yes, through a server that passes a newsletter when the post publishes, which Ghost requires: Breakreach and ghst do. MFYDev/ghost-mcp and Zapier publish posts without emailing them.
On Publisher and above. Starter doesn't include custom integrations, the Admin API or Zapier, so Breakreach and the servers that use an Admin API key can't connect to it.
The Admin API key of a custom integration, written as 24 characters, a colon, then 64 more. The Content API key only reads public content. Deleting the integration revokes the key.
In Claude: Customize → Connectors → Discover, search Breakreach, Connect. In ChatGPT: Settings → Plugins, search Breakreach, Connect. In Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http breakreach https://api.breakreach.com/mcp, then /mcp to sign in. Then connect your site in Breakreach: its address and the Admin API key of a custom integration.
Creating a Breakreach account and connecting your first social account is free. Scheduling and publishing need a plan, from $29 a month ($23 billed yearly) for 5 accounts.
