Your own Meta app
quinnjr/threads-mcp and baguskto/threads-mcp call the Threads API with your own app, which you create in Meta's developer dashboard with the Threads use case. For your own account, a tester invite is enough; for anyone else, every permission has to pass App Review. Long-lived tokens last 60 days and need refreshing.
Hosted on the official API
Breakreach and Outstand hold a reviewed Meta app. Breakreach connects through Threads' own sign-in from Claude's or ChatGPT's directory; Outstand takes an API key.
Your logged-in browser
bintangtimurlangit/threads-mcp drives a real browser with your cookies, so it reaches everything you can do in the app. Its README warns that Meta can restrict or ban accounts that behave like bots.
What Threads's API lets a server doThe rules every server works within.

- Posts500 characters, emoji counted in bytes; images up to 8 MB, videos up to 5 minutes; carousels of 2 to 20 items count as one post. Since December 22, 2025, posts with more than 5 links fail.
