How to write a Threads post with AI

  • Describe what you want to sayThe news, the question or the thought, with the details only you know. The generator only uses what you give it.
  • Pick a format and a toneShare something, ask a question, give an opinion or a tip. Threads is a conversation: every format ends with something people can reply to.
  • Read each one as a postClick a result to see it as Threads shows it, topic tag included. The count under each one counts emoji the way Threads does.
  • Copy one, or schedule itCopy the post you'd write yourself, or send it to Breakreach to publish at the time you choose.

Threads post ideas that start a conversation

Threads reads like people talking, not brands announcing. Each format opens differently, here for a Lyon café trying pay-what-you-want coffee:

  • Share"Pay-what-you-want filter coffee, every Monday morning at our Lyon café." What it is, why you care, one detail.
  • Question"Have you ever walked into a café and not known what to pay?" A line of context, then one question people can answer from their own experience.
  • Opinion"Fixed prices for filter coffee make less sense than people think." A take in the first line, a reason or two, then room to disagree.
  • Tip"Trying pay-what-you-want? Start on your quietest morning." What to do, how, and why, in a few short lines.

The Threads character limit: 500, and why emoji cost more

A Threads post can have up to 500 characters (Threads API docs). The API counts each emoji as its size in UTF-8 bytes (Threads API docs): most emoji take 4 of the 500, a skin tone or a flag takes 8, and a family emoji more. That's how a post published by a scheduling tool is counted; Threads doesn't say how the app's own box counts.

So the generator aims under 450, with one emoji at most, and the counter under each result counts emoji in bytes: a post it says fits will fit when it's published.

Breakreach

Picked your post? Put it on the calendar. Breakreach publishes your Threads posts at the time you pick, with a photo or a video, from a calendar or straight from ChatGPT and Claude, along with the same idea for X, LinkedIn and nine more networks.

Topic tags: one per post

Threads has no hashtag lists: each post gets one topic tag, which shows in blue, without the #, and links the post to that topic (Threads Help). In the app, type # and pick a topic or create one. Posted through the API, the first valid #tag in the text becomes the post's tag; tags can't hold spaces, periods, & or punctuation, and a number like #1 doesn't count (Threads API docs).

The generator ends each post with one single-word tag, like #coffee, that passes those rules. Pick the topic people would actually browse, not the most popular one.

Links are fine to use: Adam Mosseri, who runs Threads, said in June 2025 that posts with links had been working much better for over a month (Social Media Today).

Threads posts vs Instagram captions

A Threads post can be text alone, under 500 characters, with one topic tag. An Instagram caption sits under a photo or a video, can run to 2,200 characters and carry up to 5 hashtags (Instagram API reference, Instagram Help). The same idea needs a different post on each: for Instagram, the Instagram caption generator writes captions, and the AI social media post generator writes both at once, along with X, LinkedIn, Bluesky and Facebook.

Schedule your Threads posts

Threads added scheduling to the app in January 2025 (Social Media Today). Breakreach schedules Threads posts from a calendar alongside your other networks, and from ChatGPT or Claude: ask for the post in the chat and it's scheduled.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

About the threads post generator and what it writes.

Yes, with no sign-up. It runs a dozen times an hour for free.

Claude, from Anthropic. It writes 3 posts per run and is told to use only the facts you give it. Read each one before you publish.

500. The Threads API counts each emoji as its size in UTF-8 bytes, usually 4, and the counter under each result does the same.

One topic tag per post. Threads shows it in blue, without the #. The generator adds one, on the last line.

Adam Mosseri, who runs Threads, said in June 2025 that link posts had been working much better for over a month. A post can hold 5 links at most.

No. It writes real posts to publish, shown in a preview so you can see how they'll read.

The X post generator writes threads of 3 to 6 posts for X, counted the way X counts.

Yes. Describe your idea in the language you post in, and the posts come back in it.
