Social media image sizes (2026).Ten networks, one table, one resizer.
The size that works almost everywhere is 1080 × 1350 pixels (4:5) for feed posts, and 1080 × 1920 (9:16) for Reels, Stories, TikTok and Shorts. Below, every image and video size for ten networks, checked on each network's own pages in September 2026.

One image for every networkThree shapes cover almost everything.
Every network has its own table, but three shapes do most of the work. Design at these sizes, keep the subject in the middle, and each network shows it whole or close to it:
| Shape | Size | Works on |
|---|---|---|
| Portrait 4:5 | 1080 × 1350 | Instagram (the tallest its API takes), LinkedIn, Facebook, X, Threads, Bluesky, Reddit |
| Vertical 9:16 | 1080 × 1920 | TikTok, Instagram Reels and Stories, YouTube Shorts, Facebook Reels and Stories, Pinterest video |
| Landscape 1.91:1 | 1200 × 630 | Link previews on Facebook, LinkedIn (1200 × 627) and Bluesky. X link cards are 2:1 |
Two exceptions: Pinterest wants 2:3 (1000 × 1500) for a standard pin, and YouTube thumbnails are 16:9 (3840 × 2160, or 1280 × 720).
What changed in 2025 and 2026Most size guides haven't caught up.
- YouTube thumbnails: 3840 × 2160 and 50 MBUp from 1280 × 720 and 2 MB. The phone app still caps uploads at 2 MB.
- Instagram: 3:4 photos and a 3:4 gridTall 1080 × 1440 photos since May 2025, a tall profile grid since January 2025. The API still stops at 4:5.
- Facebook: every video is a ReelSince June 2025, in any length or orientation.
- LinkedIn: a new Company Page cover1512 × 256, after 1128 × 191 and 4200 × 700.
- Bluesky: 10 photos, 2 MB each, 10-minute videosFour increases between April and August 2026.
- Pinterest: 5-minute video pinsWith safe zones for full screen published in its pin specs.
- Threads: carousels of 20Since September 2024, photos and videos mixed.
Instagram image sizes
Feed posts go from 1080 × 566 (1.91:1) to 1080 × 1440 (3:4) in the app, and the profile grid shows every post as a 3:4 tile. Scheduling tools publish through Instagram's API, which stops at 4:5, so 1080 × 1350 is the safe portrait size. Reels and Stories are 1080 × 1920; keep the top 14% and bottom 35% clear.
TikTok image sizes
TikTok is 1080 × 1920 (9:16). Its own template keeps 240 pixels clear at the top, 660 at the bottom, 120 on each side and a column of buttons on the right. Videos run up to 10 minutes recorded in the app and 60 minutes uploaded; photo posts hold up to 35 images.
YouTube image sizes
YouTube now recommends 3840 × 2160 thumbnails (16:9), up to 50 MB from a computer and 2 MB from the phone app; 1280 × 720 is still accepted. Shorts thumbnails are 2160 × 3840, the channel banner 2560 × 1440 with its text inside a central safe area.
LinkedIn image sizes
LinkedIn takes images from 3:1 to 4:5 and recommends 1080 pixels wide, so 1080 × 1350 is the tallest post. Link previews are 1200 × 627, the profile background 1584 × 396, and the Company Page cover changed again, to 1512 × 256.
Facebook image sizes
Meta doesn't publish an organic feed size, but its ads guide recommends 4:5 at 1440 × 1800; 1080 × 1350 and 1080 × 1080 work the same way. Link previews are 1200 × 630. Since June 2025 every Facebook video is a Reel, in any length or orientation, with 9:16 recommended. The cover shows at 820 × 312 on a computer and 640 × 360 on a phone, so keep its content in the middle.
X image sizes
X shows a single image uncropped anywhere from 2:1 to 3:4, so 1600 × 900, 1200 × 1200 and 1080 × 1440 all appear whole. Images go up to 5 MB, four per post. The header is 1500 × 500, and up to 60 pixels can be cropped at its top and bottom; the profile photo is 400 × 400.
Pinterest image sizes
A standard pin is 1000 × 1500 (2:3). Taller pins are cut off in the feed past 2:4.2. Video pins are best at 1080 × 1920 and run from 4 seconds to 5 minutes; in full screen, keep 270 pixels clear at the top, 790 at the bottom, 65 on the left and 195 on the right. Images go up to 20 MB.
Threads image sizes
Threads sets no recommended ratio for images: any width from 320 to 1440 pixels and any ratio up to 10:1, in JPEG or PNG up to 8 MB. Portrait images at 1080 × 1350 are a safe default. Carousels hold 2 to 20 items; videos are best at 9:16 and run up to 5 minutes.
Bluesky image sizes
Bluesky raised its limits four times in 2026: posts now hold up to 10 photos of 2 MB each, up to 4000 × 4000 pixels, and videos run up to 10 minutes and 300 MB. Images between 1:2 and 10:1 show without a crop in the feed. The banner is 3:1, and both the avatar and the banner are kept at 1 MB.
Reddit image sizes
Reddit publishes no size for image posts; its own ad specs use 1080 × 1350 (4:5), 1080 × 1080 and 1920 × 1080, and a June 2026 test shows images edge to edge instead of cropped. Videos run up to 15 minutes, 30 with Premium. Community banners start at 1072 × 128, community icons are 300 × 300.
Posting the same image everywhere
When one post goes to several networks, start from a portrait 1080 × 1350 with the subject in the middle third: it fits Instagram's API, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, Threads, Bluesky and Reddit, and survives Instagram's 3:4 grid crop. Export a 1080 × 1920 version for the vertical networks, where the same middle third stays clear of the interface.
Breakreach publishes one post to all ten networks and shows how it will look on each before it goes out, from the calendar or from ChatGPT and Claude.
Sizes, answered.
Short answers about image and video sizes across networks.
1080 × 1350 pixels (4:5) for feed posts on most networks, 1080 × 1920 (9:16) for Reels, Stories, TikTok and Shorts, and 1200 × 630 (1.91:1) for link previews. Pinterest prefers 1000 × 1500 and YouTube thumbnails are 16:9.
1080 × 1350 comes closest: Instagram's API, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, Threads, Bluesky and Reddit all show it. Keep the subject centred so Instagram's 3:4 grid and any square crop keep it.
It used to be the 1080 × 1080 square. Most networks now show taller images, so 1080 × 1350 (4:5) takes more room in the feed.
1080 × 1920 pixels (9:16) on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube Shorts. Keep text away from the top and bottom, where the apps draw their interface.
Facebook cover 851 × 315, X header 1500 × 500, LinkedIn profile background 1584 × 396, LinkedIn Page cover 1512 × 256, YouTube banner 2560 × 1440, Bluesky banner 3:1 (2000 × 667).
A square of at least 400 × 400 covers X and LinkedIn; Facebook recommends 320 × 320, YouTube shows it at 98 × 98. Every network crops it to a circle, so keep the face or logo centred.
1200 × 630 (1.91:1) on Facebook and Bluesky, 1200 × 627 on LinkedIn. X link cards are 2:1, like 1200 × 600.
1080 × 1920 (9:16) for vertical video, which TikTok, Reels, Shorts, Facebook, Pinterest and Threads recommend or accept full screen. For YouTube videos and landscape posts, 1920 × 1080 (16:9).
